Rotherhill transforms Lancer House for software developer TBA

Rotherhill Developments has attracted a hi-tech occupier to Lancer House, an unloved office building it acquired four years ago.

The Leicestershire-based property investment and development company has invested £1.5 million transforming the premises into a contemporary office space providing around 20,000 sq ft over three floors, with parking for 64 cars.

Lancer House is located in Scudamore Road, on the Braunstone Industrial Estate, just two and a half miles from Leicester city centre.

It has been let to TBA, a specialist software developer, which is relocating its Leicester office from smaller premises in Blaby.

Paul Bagshaw, Rotherhill’s managing director, said:

“When we bought Lancer House the plan was to simply refurbish the offices and build an industrial building in the back, where the car park is, and we got planning for that.

“But we are delighted to have had the opportunity to create this ‘Google-esque’ building for TBA.

“It’s great to have been able to deliver a property suitable for a hi-tech software developer, which enables them to remain in Leicester where there is a shortage of suitable top-quality space.

“We have done two of Leicester’s biggest office deals over the last five years, the other being the letting of 55,000 sq ft to Babcock, around the corner in Radar Road. This deal meant Babcock could stay in Leicester, keeping around 400 jobs in the city.”

TBA is best known for its Autostore software, which is used by warehouse operators, ports and terminals all over the world.

TBA Leicester managing director Andrew McKaig said:

“This move represents a great vote of confidence in the team and will provide employment opportunities for many people in the region.

“I’d like to thank all parties involved in helping us create and deliver a fantastic working environment for leading-edge software development.”
